X54 Allround Home Coffee Grinder

The Mahlkönig X54 Allround Home is a household electric coffee grinder that requires a power connection. To use the grinder, fill the included hopper with whole coffee beans of your choice. Select your grind setting (use the Mahlkönig Home app to help pick the right setting for your chosen coffee beverage) and indicate how long you’d like to grind coffee for (you can set four time presets, or grind on-demand). Place the portafilter or dosing cup under the doser and hit the Start button, the X54 Allround Home will grind and dispense the appropriate amount of coffee.

The Mahlkönig X54 is the culmination of a century of innovation in professional coffee grinders, packaged into a device that’s fit for home use. The grinder delivers perfectly ground coffee for all brew methods ranging from espresso to cold brew. This offers significant savings, both in terms of the cost and the space requirements in the kitchen, as you no longer need separate grinders for (1) fine espresso grinding and (2) filter or cold brew coffee grinding.

The 54mm special steel burrs of the X54 Allround Home are manufactured in our facility in Hamburg, Germany from high-quality tool steel alloy that is hardened for wear resistance and blasted during finishing to prevent burr settling, which makes these burrs pre-seasoned. The finishing process is unique to Mahlkönig and one of the reasons our burrs are respected around the world for producing consistent and uniform grounds long-term.

The motor on the X54 Allround Home Grinder is another area where we haven’t held back. Mahlkönig grinders are known for longevity, and the X54 is no different. This motor offers a lifetime of 25.000 shots, or roughly 30 years of use if you pull two shots per day.

Since flat burrs achieve a significantly higher proportion of particles with the same shape and size than conical burr grinders, they are the ideal choice to achieve much more evenly ground coffee—and thus a higher quality, cleaner flavor. Compared to conical burrs, flat burrs also ensure greater dosing accuracy and hence a more consistent taste experience.

The Mahlkönig X54 Allround Home burrs have an average lifespan of 500 kg of coffee ground through them. However, the actual maximum output depends on the selected grind size, the type of beans, and the roast level of the coffee. All these factors influence the actual degree of wear on the burrs. Changes in the fineness and the temperature of the ground coffee will indicate the burrs’ degree of wear and tear. We recommend changing the burrs when the ground coffee appears too coarse and/or too warm.

We recommend cleaning any coffee grinder at least once a week with our food safe GRINDZ coffee cleaner. Simply grind GRINDZ through your grinder, just like coffee beans, to remove old coffee residues and coffee oils from the grinder casing and the burrs. The surface of the grinder can be wiped with a damp, lint-free cloth. You should never use chemical detergents to clean your grinder since these could cause damage to the surface materials or even end up in your coffee.

The Mahlkönig X54 is designed specifically for grinding coffee beans. It is not suitable for grinding other products such as pepper, spices, poppy seeds or grains. Grinding products other than coffee beans with the X54 Allround Home could damage the grinder, incurring repair costs from a professional Mahlkönig service partner.

With the download of the Mahlkönig Home app for the X54 Allround Home Grinder, home baristas of all levels have access to Mahlkönig's coffee grinding equipment and expertise. Use the dial-in assistant to learn how to adjust your new grinder to the appropriate grind size per brewing method and optimize coffee flavor. Use the dial-in assistant as often as you like when you change to a different coffee type or brew method. Edit and adjust your recipes as you evolve through your home brewing coffee journey and update notes within each recipe.

The X54 Allround Home Grinder features a stepless grind adjustment knob that allows you to change the positioning of the burrs without predefined “steps”. This is essential for making espresso, as it allows you to make tiny, nearly invisible, changes to the grind size to dial in the perfect shot (rather than being limited to a few pre-determined sizes).

To change your grind size, simply turn the knob. You can go from a setting for espresso all the way to a setting for cold brew coffee by turning the knob. Run the X54 Allround Home Grinder when adjusting the grind size to a finer setting, to prevent the adjustment mechanism from sticking or damage.
